Iroquois Park Events: Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley
@ The Iroquois Park Amphitheater
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, "aka The Dirt Band, and the Toot Uncommons, is an American country-rock band from Long Beach, California."-Wikipedia.
Formed by Jeff Hanna while he was in high school, the band primarily featured six men: Bruce Kunkel, Ralph Barr, Les Thompson, Jimmie Fadden, and Jackson Browne-Wikipedia. Liberty Records was the first record company to sign the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and release their first single, 'Buy for Me the Rain, which made it to the TOP 40!
As with most rock bands, the group line-up has changed multiple times, but their sound has remained throughout the years and adjustments.
According to the Nitty Gritty about page, Bob Dylan heavily influenced Jeff Hanna's affinity for music and sound.
"With a refreshed line-up and newfound energy, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band remains one of the most accomplished bands in American roots music. Following an extended 50th anniversary tour, the ensemble grew to a six-piece in 2018 for the first time since their early jug band days."-EventBrite.
The group now includes Jeff Hanna (acoustic guitar, electric guitar), Jimmie Fadden (drums, harmonica), Bob Carpenter (keyboards), Jim Photoglo (bass, acoustic guitar), Ross Holmes (fiddle, mandolin), and Jaime Hanna (electric and acoustic guitar).
All six members also sing, and when their voices merge, the harmonies add a powerful new component to the legendary band. And with the father-son pairing of Jeff and Jaime Hanna, the band carries on a country music tradition of blood harmony." -EventBrite.
